Collecting tips
- Look in Volcanic Terrains. Search in areas with weathered volcanic rocks, especially basalts, where silica-rich solutions might have filled cavities.
- Check Riverbeds and Gravel Pits. Water erosion can expose and transport agate nodules. Look for rounded, often dull-surfaced stones that may reveal patterns when broken or polished.
- Examine Geodes and Vugs. Tree Agate can form as linings or fillings within geodes and other rock cavities.
- Observe for Translucency and Patterns. Even in rough form, some translucency might be visible, and faint dendritic patterns might be discernible on weathered surfaces or fresh breaks.
