Where to find Shiva Lingam

The sole natural source of Shiva Lingams. They are collected from the riverbed, particularly during the dry season when water levels are lower.
Collecting tips
- Authenticity. Due to their spiritual significance and demand, many artificial or altered 'Shiva Lingams' exist. Authentic ones are naturally shaped and patterned, not carved or painted. Look for natural variations in color and pattern, and a smooth, river-worn surface.
- Compositional Variation. While often described as jasper or agate, some Shiva Lingams may be composed of chert or basalt. A scratch test (Mohs hardness) can help differentiate: quartz (jasper/agate/chert) will scratch glass (hardness ~5.5), while basalt will not (hardness 5-6, but often finer grained and less resistant to scratching than quartz).
- Ethical Sourcing. Ensure that any purchased Shiva Lingams are ethically sourced and collected in a sustainable manner, respecting local traditions and environmental regulations.
