- Examine Concretions and Nodules. Limonite often forms as concretions, nodules, or stalactitic growths in sedimentary rocks and soils.
- Observe Color and Streak. The characteristic yellowish-brown to brown color and yellowish-brown streak are key identifiers. Hematite has a reddish-brown streak.
