India
Significant deposits, particularly in the Mysore region, are known for producing various colors of aventurine, including yellow.

Collecting tips
- Look for Metamorphic Terrains. Focus your search in areas known for regional metamorphism, particularly where quartzites or metamorphosed sandstones are present.
- Identify Aventurescence. The key identifying feature is the sparkling effect. Rotate the sample under light to observe the characteristic shimmer caused by the platy inclusions.
- Check for Color and Inclusions. Look for yellow to yellowish-orange hues. Examine closely for tiny, reflective, platy inclusions within the quartz matrix. These inclusions are typically mica (muscovite, illite) or iron oxides.
- Hardness Test. Quartz is relatively hard (Mohs 7). It should scratch glass and steel. This helps differentiate it from softer minerals.
- Examine Fracture. Like all quartz, aventurine will exhibit a conchoidal (shell-like) fracture when broken, not a flat cleavage.
