Collecting tips
- Look in Volcanic Terrains. Search in areas with weathered basaltic or rhyolitic rocks, as Moss Agate often forms in vesicles and fractures within these igneous rocks.
- Check Alluvial Deposits. Riverbeds and gravel deposits downstream from volcanic areas can contain water-worn nodules of Moss Agate.
- Examine Rock Cavities. Look for geodes or vugs (cavities) within host rocks, as Moss Agate can line or fill these spaces.
