Where to find Rose Quartz

One of the most significant sources, particularly for large, high-quality rose quartz. Found in pegmatites and hydrothermal veins.

Known for its rose quartz deposits, particularly in the Black Hills region, often found in pegmatites.
Madagascar
Produces fine quality rose quartz, often with good transparency, from pegmatitic and hydrothermal occurrences.

Collecting tips
- Look for Granitic Terrains. Rose quartz is commonly associated with granitic intrusions and pegmatites. Explore areas with exposed granite or pegmatite dikes.
- Identify Quartz Veins. Search for white or milky quartz veins cutting through host rock. Rose quartz will appear as pinkish zones or masses within these veins.
- Check for Associated Minerals. In pegmatites, rose quartz can be found alongside feldspar, mica, tourmaline, and beryl. In hydrothermal veins, it may be with other quartz varieties, feldspar, or sulfide minerals.
- Examine Fractured Surfaces. The vitreous to greasy luster and conchoidal fracture are characteristic of quartz. The pink color will be evident on fresh breaks.
- Consider Weathering. Surface exposure can sometimes dull the color or cause a weathered rind. Look for fresh breaks or dig slightly below the surface.
